Since graduating from Princeton in 1968, John Storyk has designed close to 4000 recording studios, corporate conference rooms, broadcast complexes and audio‑for‑video suites around the world. His first commission was for Jimi Hendrix. That studio, Electric Lady, continues to churn out hit records to this day in it’s original site in NY's Greenwich Village. Storyk’s credits include studios for: Jay-Z, Green Day, Paul (Adele) Epworth’s The Church Studio in London, Whitney Houston, Academy Award-nominated film composer Carter Burwell, Aerosmith, NYC’s premiere ‘destination studio Jungle City, and Alicia Keys. His Walters-Storyk Design Group has contributed to the architectural and acoustic design of such renowned performance venues as Jazz At Lincoln Center and Le Poisson Rouge. WSDG is an eleven-time winner of the prestigious NAMM TEC Award for outstanding achievement in Acoustics/Facility Design. John Storyk lectures frequently on acoustics and studio design at colleges and universities around the country. He is a visiting professor at the Berklee College of Music in Boston, and co-author/principal professor of Berklee’s new Masters On Line Course in Architectural Acoustics for Studios. WSDG maintains offices in New York, Miami, and San Francisco and globally in Argentina, Brazil, China, Germany and Switzerland. He also serves as Chair, Board of Directors, Walkway Over The Hudson.
John Storyk’s global WSDG architectural/acoustic design firm has created over 3500 media facilities. First fifty-year credits include studios for Jimi Hendrix (1969), Jay-Z, Springsteen, NYU, RPI and Jazz At Lincoln Center. A visiting professor at Berklee College of Music, Storyk lectures frequently at colleges and universities around the country.
